Baltimore Stroke Survivor Thrives as Scout for a Day

A few months after surviving a stroke, Joseph Johnson had a simple wish most people might take for granted. He wanted to spend a day outside.

Thanks to HCR Manor Care rehabilitation center and the Boy Scouts of America’s Baltimore Area Council, he found himself fishing outside last week.

HCR Manor Care’s “Heart’s Desire” program grants patients’ wishes, like Johnson’s. Little did he know he’d also become an honorary Boy Scout for the day and receive a Class A Boy Scout uniform.

Watch Baltimore ABC2‘s video below to see Johnson’s reaction to his day out and learn about the progress he’s made since his stroke.
