Interactive platform preserves the Eagle Scout journey
DALLAS. Texas (December 2, 2009) — As a way to celebrate the accomplishments of Eagle Scouts, The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) announced today the introduction of myNESA.org, a destination for personalized, online showcases that tell the Eagle Scout story. Eagle Scouts of all ages can now dust off their awards and breathe new life into their Scouting experience by sharing their achievements online with family and friends.
Personalized shadowboxes enable Scouts and their family members to salute their achievements by capturing stories, timeline events, awards, and photos. Complete customization is available with various themes that accommodate diverse personalities and interests. Members can choose from over 300 interactive Scouting awards, badges, and insignia to add to their showcase. MyNESA.org is powered by an online awards engine developed by SplashFX Inc. and offers a fresh and innovative way for Scouts to preserve the stories accumulated on the challenging path to Eagle.
Sharing stories with others is simple with the built-in invitation feature. With a click on any award, badge, or patch friends can read personal comments about the award and learn more about the experience. Not only can background stories can be associated with each award, but photos can be incorporated to complete the history. Each event–each story—is offered as a lasting testament to the challenges of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. With the ScoutGram feature, viewers can add their own comments or congratulate the member on a job well done. Additionally, built in search capabilities make it easy to find and connect with friends throughout the network.
As the Boy Scouts of America celebrates its first 100 years, myNESA.org provides a way to preserve the rich traditions of the past while embracing technology for the future. “We’re excited to offer Eagle Scouts a new way to showcase their Scouting experience,” said Bill Steele, director of the National Eagle Scout Association. “The modest annual fee not only provides a way for participants to help preserve Scouting, but also allows us to continue our mission of service.”
