Scouting America is happy to announce that Sean Magennis has joined the organization as the Executive Vice President of Membership Engagement.
Sean has more than 30 years of global experience in leading high-impact membership driven organizations, designing growth strategies, and encouraging seamless exchange and collaboration across independent organizations and departments.
Most recently, Sean served as Head of Global Membership Development at TIGER 21. In that role, he led global expansion efforts, architected high-touch engagement strategies, and worked closely with regional Chairs to build trusted, purpose-driven communities.
Previously, Sean served for over seven years as Global President and COO of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), where he led the organization’s growth to 33,000+ members across 138 countries. He oversaw key areas including member engagement, chapter and regional development, global events, networks, and YPO’s hallmark peer-learning forums.
Prior to YPO, Sean served as International Chairman of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), playing a central role in its North American and international expansion for 16 years. He helped launch EO chapters in the USA, Europe, Russia, Africa, and Asia, fostering deep networks of entrepreneurial leadership around the world. He also served as President of CEO Coaching International.
Additionally, Sean recently completed four years as the volunteer National Chairman of the Young Catholic Professionals (YCP), where he helped expand the organization’s reach and impact, mentoring the management team and young leaders and advancing values-based professional development.
Sean is widely recognized for his servant leadership, cross-cultural expertise, and passion for values-driven community building. As a long-time Girl Scout parent and youth development advocate, he brings a personal commitment to Scouting’s mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes.
