HAPPY BIRTHDAY BSA!

Today marks the 114th birthday of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). More than 130 million young men and women have traveled the trail of Scouting to seek adventure, learn skills and develop the leadership and character that has helped steer America for well over a century.

The BSA’s CEO and President Roger Krone reflected on the status of Scouting in America. “This year we celebrate five years of outstanding young women being involved in Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA. Cub Scouts is about to launch a dynamic new family-oriented program and our high adventure bases are as popular as ever as young adults seek to push themselves to reach new levels of leadership excellence. There has never been a better time to be a Scout.”

Today, Representatives Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) and Sanford Bishop (D-GA), themselves both Distinguished Eagle Scouts, recognized the Scouting anniversary with a resolution from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Krone added, “We provide a safe environment for every youth and family who wants a Scouting experience. While today marks an amazing history and fond memories of how far we’ve come, I’m most excited for what lies ahead. I invite all youth to join us and give Scouting a try. Adventure on!”
